Rewrite Your Private Label Content

People are always asking “how much do I need to rewrite an article to avoid a duplicate content penalty?”. If by penalty you mean income lost, then I don’t believe there is a duplicate content penalty. Think about it this way, if you could duplicate exactly Google’s website and put it on your own domain, do you think you’ll make even $1 with doing some work? Isn’t ezinearticles.com itself page after page of duplicate content? THERE IS NO DUPLICATE CONTENT PENALTY, ONLY A LAZY PENALTY.

You cannot submit a plr article “as is” to any reputable article directory like ezineartices.com. You cannot rewrite a plr article any less than 100% and submit it to an article directory. If you’re serious about article marketing, then you have to write an original article. In fact, you don’t even need a plr service if all you want to do is submit articles to article directories. Just compile a few articles from other authors and write something in your own words.

But whether you subscribe to a plr service like me or just want to compile freely available information, here are some tips to help you rewrite them.

  • Change the title of the article and put a keyword in the title. If you cannot reword a title, then stop right here, cancel your plr subscription and hire a ghostwriter.
  • Rewrite everything in the first paragraph and put your keyword in it somewhere. We’re only talking about 3 or 4 sentences, so don’t be lazy. Just figure out different ways to say the same thing. Take a long sentence and break it into two peaces. Use synonyms or take a difficult word and explain it in it’s own sentence using the definition. Go to m-w.com and use their dictionary and thesaurus.
  • Go through the rest of the article and start thinking of personal experiences and/or examples that will demonstrate each point. I like to use screen shots and pictures myself. My blog here is littered with them. For article directory submissions, point them to the picture of a url. Remember, we’re only talking about 3 or 4 sentences, don’t make it harder than it is.
  • Finish the article with a summary of the 1 or 2 main points you emphasized in the first paragraph. Your keyword or keyword phrase should naturally be in this summary.
  • Finally, do a spell and grammer check. Ezinearticles.com has a spell checker built in, so use it. Download openoffice.org and use it’s word processor. It has a spell checker and thesaurus built in. You can also try http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck/ online.

Writing articles and article marketing is not for everyone. But if you’re going to do it, don’t be lazy. Rewrite your plr content 100% before submitting them to article directories. Remember, there is no duplicate content penalty, only a lazy penalty!
